Cleansing Combo Skin

Combination skin needs a cleanser that is powerful for oily parts of your skin, but also is gentle on the dry parts. Makeup should be completely removed, impurities cleansed and the balance of your skin returned more to normal. After cleansing, be sure to start your skincare routine.

Pick the right cleanser that doesn’t overdry your skin

  • Use chemical exfoliants (salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, or glycolic acid) are good but don’t over use them. SUR uses a plant-based enzymes for a mild exfoliation
  • Determine if physical exfoliants (jojoba seeds) can work for your skin type and are not too harsh.

Wash your face once or twice a day - depending on the state of your skin

  • Always wash your face at night and determine if it feels dry or tight in the morning. If it feels oily then wash your face.
  • Don’t overwash your face which may cause extra dry skin
  • Acne-prone skin is usually the result of hormones, genetics, and clogged pores, not from not washing your face enough

Remove all makeup and sunscreen every night

  • Use micellar water or a makeup remover to take off makeup and sunscreen
  • Use a cleanser after removing make up and sunscreen

Use lukewarm water

  • Hot water can strip the skin of natural oils or break down delicate tissue
  • Warm water is best

Always use a new washcloth

  • Clean washcloths, brushes or cleansing aids will help the spread of bacteria
  • Change and clean pillow cases, towels, hats frequently

Gently pat dry skin

  • Gently pat your skin dry with a towel
  • Don't scrub or rub your skin dry, as this can irritate your skin
  • Use a separate towel for face and body
