What are ANTIOXIDANTS doing for your skin?

“Antioxidant” is a buzzword that you hear a lot nowadays -- but what is it and where does it come from? Antioxidants come in all shapes and sizes and in a nutshell they are wonderful for your skin. You can get antioxidant help from the inside and outside - by eating certain types of food and also by using it on your skin.

Here are a few antioxidants that we at SUR use in our products.

Vitamin A

SUR uses Phyto-Vitamin A source from plants = Beta Carotene and is a powerful antioxidant for your skin.

Vitamin A helps to speed up healing, prevent breakouts, and support the skin's immune system and it promotes natural moisturizing - which means it helps to hydrate the skin effectively, giving it a radiant glow. It assists in promoting and maintaining healthy dermis and epidermis; the top two layers of your skin.

There are two types of vitamin A that are found in the diet - preformed and proformed. Preformed Vitamin A is found in animal products such as meat, fish, poultry, and dairy foods. Proformed Vitamin A is found in plant-based foods such as fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin A is an essential nutrient that supports skin, eye, and reproductive health, and immune function. There are two types of vitamin A: retinoids (preformed vitamin A) and carotenoids (proformed vitamin A). Both types are converted to retinol by the liver.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects skin cells against damaging free radicals caused by UV exposure. It also may  inhibit melanin production in the skin, which helps to lighten hyperpigmentation and brown spots, even out skin tone, and enhance skin radiance.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E helps support the immune system, cell function, and skin health. It's an antioxidant, making it effective at combating the effects of free radicals produced by the metabolism of food and toxins in the environment. Vitamin E may help reduce UV damage to skin.

Avocado oil helps moisturize and protect your skin from damaging UV rays and also increase collagen metabolism. It contains beta carotene, protein, lecithin, fatty acids, and vitamins A, D, and E.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera contains antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C, and it is highly anti-inflammatory. It can help treat burns, acne, and dry skin. It helps retain moisture in your skin.

Our SUR Antioxidant Creme features these antioxidants. It is rich, creamy formula is best smoothed on before bed, allowing it to work its energizing, free-radical-fighting magic overnight. It recently won an EcoExcellence Award 2020.
